The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration are teaming up to promote health IT job opportunities, Modern Healthcare reports.
The health care industry is expected to need about 50,000 new workers to help implement electronic health record and health information exchange initiatives.

The two organisations will share links, resources and white papers on their websites. According to HIMSS, the partnership will enhance both groups’ ability to serve various stakeholders, such as human resources teams, utives and workers with IT backgrounds.

The organisations will aim to facilitate communication between individuals who are seeking positions in the field and employers who are seeking qualified applicants, according to HIMSS.
Helen Figge, senior director for career services at HIMSS, said the two organisations also are planning to hold a “virtual career fair” and provide joint educational programs.
