InferMed today announced that Cancer Research UK has approved a new grant for four of its Clinical Trials Units to receive an Organisational Site Licence for InferMed’s MACRO electronic data capture solution including an upgrade to the latest version, MACRO v4. This agreement represents a significant investment in licence fees and services. The four Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Units to benefit from the grant are the Wales Cancer Trials Unit (Cardiff University), Clinical Trials Research Centre (University of Liverpool), Institute of Cancer Research Clinical Trials & Statistics Unit (ICR, Surrey) and Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (University College London). InferMed has a long-standing commercial and research relationship with Cancer Research UK that dates back to the company’s formation in 1999. InferMed was launched as a joint venture between Imperial Cancer Research Technology (now CRT) and Dr Alan Montgomery’s company Integral solutions Ltd. to commercialise CRT’s Arezzo technology and ISL’s MACRO. CRT remains InferMed’s largest institutional shareholder. Dr Montgomery, InferMed’s Chairman is delighted by the award. “MACRO was the first commercial application of Arezzo, the protocol and decision support technology that Cancer Research UK researched for many years, before entrusting its commercialisation to InferMed. It is very pleasing that increased use of MACRO will further enhance Cancer Research UK’s internationally respected clinical research programme – running more trials, more quickly, at less cost and with strong support for regulatory compliance.” Julie Hearn, Head of Clinical Trials at Cancer Research UK, added, “We’re pleased to announce our upgrade to the latest version of MACRO v4, following many years of using of InferMed’s data solution. We look forward to seeing the impact it will have on the efficiency of our trials units.” InferMed Limited Since 1999, InferMed has provided software and services to support best practice in medicine.
