A patient in Sir Gangaram Hospital was saved by a wonder pill from the deadly cancer. The 61 year old cancer patient who was suffering from kidney cancer with a massive lung metastasis survived. The drug showed no complications for four years. The cancer can be managed by using a targeted drug for a gene mutation. The hospital also helped a 32-year-old conserve a part of her breast, through this option. The targeted drugs are available for 50-odd gene mutations. The gene mutations are profiled for three purposes. The personalized treatment regimen for the patient in turn helps to diagnose cancer precisely. In case of metastasis, where the cancer has spread to several parts of the body, these drugs can help manage the disease better, by eliminating painful treatment procedures. The hospital aims to use the targeted therapy more often to get lucrative benefits in the field of cancer and its treatment.
