The Indian railways is looking to greatly improve its medical facilities by using the public-private partnership model. It proposes to establish 18 medical colleges attached to existing railway hospitals through PPP. These colleges would be at Chennai, Hyderabad, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Barasat, Bhubaneshwar, Mysore, Kharagpur, Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jodhpur, Gardenreach, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, B R Singh Hospital Kolkata, Bhopal, Jammu and Thirvanthapuram. Similarly, seven nursing colleges would be established attached to existing railway hospitals. These would be at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai (Kalyan), Chennai, Secunderabad, Lucknow and Jabalpur.
