Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) is all set to upgrade its medical equipment. According to sources, the upgradation will be completed by the end of the current fiscal. All the departments in SVIMS Hospital, including cardiothoracic, nephrology, neuro surgery, urology and radiology, have submitted proposals to the Central Government seeking aid for upgradation of medical equipment. The Health Education Commissioner and Secretary held discussions with a four-member Central team over the upgradation proposal. They felt that upgradation of medical equipment is necessary to provide better medicare to people. The TTD has received an intimation from the Central Government in regard to sanction of Rs 60 crore for SVIMS. The Health Secretary, who also received a letter from the Centre in this regard, has sent an official to SVIMS to study the upgradation proposals, the sources said.
