The Innovations Ministry of Italy has vowed to allocate 15m euro in government fund to adopt online health service booking operations. The program envisages to provide local health staff to create a fully interactive database of patients for the purposes of monitoring public health. Thus the IT integration program pursued by the Innovations Ministry aims to overhaul Health Service patient management tools. Accordingly the Ministry, claims to have significantly streamlined Italy’s IT(in health services) structure with a majority of leading EU countries. The scheme is in essence to vertically integrate local authority booking offices (regions, provinces and municipalities),so as to allow doctors and patients to book medical services online. The IT integration process is also viewed as a means of redesigning a range of health service protocols with benefits down the line.
