Under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative Akums organised a three-day skill development camp at its manufacturing unit in Haridwar in collaboration with the Noida-based Chhanv Foundation. The programme brought together Sheroes acid attack and burn accident survivors with the objective of supporting their rehabilitation confidence building and readiness for professional environments.
The initiative focused on enabling survivors to rebuild their lives through structured engagement aligned with health recovery psychosocial well-being and reintegration into workplace settings. Corporate trainer Ms. Shweta Rastogi from Delhi-NCR conducted guided sessions in a supportive and comfortable learning environment.
Speaking about the activity organised at Akums’ Pure and Cure Healthcare plant Mrs. Archana Jain Secretary of the Akums Health and Education Society said the organisation was inspired by the courage and determination of the participants and reiterated its commitment to supporting their journey toward dignity confidence and self-reliance through training and resource support.
The camp focused on practical capability development including sessions on workplace culture communication skills personal grooming interview preparation and basic digital tools areas critical to psychosocial recovery and professional reintegration. Participants were also given exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and the corporate healthcare ecosystem at SIDCUL Haridwar. The programme included a visit to the manufacturing facility along with participation in Ganga Aarti and darshan at the Ganga Ghat.
Mr. Alok Dixit Founder of Chhanv Foundation noted that recovery after trauma extends beyond physical healing to restoring confidence independence and professional identity. He acknowledged the programme’s role in supporting survivors’ rehabilitation pathways.
The programme was supported by Ms. Aditi Tiwari from Chhanv Foundation and coordinated by Akums’ CSR team. Certificates were distributed at the conclusion and sewing machines were provided to support self-employment initiatives.
Sheroes Hangout Café and Sheroes Store livelihood initiatives of the Chhanv Foundation will be further strengthened through these trainings supporting survivors’ long-term rehabilitation and engagement.
