Addanki, Guntur District Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, along with Bapatla District Collector J Venkata Murali, inaugurated a newly built Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Addanki town on June 10th, 2025. The centre, developed at an investment of ₹1.5 crore, underscores the Andhra Pradesh government’s renewed commitment to expanding healthcare delivery systems for underserved populations under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The UPHC is the first of five such centres sanctioned for the Addanki Assembly segment as part of a broader public health infrastructure initiative by the state government. With the newly inaugurated facility now operational, the remaining four centres are scheduled for completion and launch by the end of this month.

During the event, Minister Ravi emphasised the state’s long-term vision to decentralise quality healthcare and make essential services more accessible to economically weaker sections, particularly in semi-urban and peri-urban locations.

In line with this vision, Ravi also announced the establishment of a dialysis centre in Medarametla. The proposed centre aims to address a critical service gap in the region, offering much-needed renal care for patients who currently travel long distances for treatment.

The health centre launch was part of a broader developmental initiative in the region. The Minister also inaugurated a new tar road connecting Naam Road to Govada village, constructed at a cost of ₹1.2 crore. He revealed that ₹6 crore worth of road infrastructure projects were completed under Phase I, with an additional ₹7.5 crore allocated for Phase II works, which are currently underway.

Strategic Implications for the Healthcare Ecosystem

This development is particularly relevant for healthcare planners, medical infrastructure providers, and diagnostics suppliers, as it signals a shift in focus towards enhancing frontline healthcare facilities in tier-II and tier-III cities. For stakeholders in India’s healthcare sector, the UPHC initiative in Addanki exemplifies new opportunities for PPP (Public-Private Partnership) models, telemedicine integration, and medical equipment provisioning.
