MediBuddy has partnered with Philips to transform preventive healthcare in India. Marking World Heart Day, the collaboration will introduce the Philips HeartPrint to millions of smartphones nationwide. It comes with the technology to detect early warning signs for the heart by embedding advanced AI-based longitudinal triaging on users’ smartphones.
World Heart Day draws attention to the pressing need for proactive heart health management, and this partnership addresses a critical gap in India’s healthcare sector. While traditional tests such as ECGs evaluate the current state of the heart, the Philips HeartPrint provides a regular tracking tool to predict future risks and monitor the progression of heart health over time. This forward-looking approach to heart health management could revolutionise cardiac care in India by facilitating early intervention and personalised health strategies.
By merely scanning their finger using their smartphone’s camera through the MediBuddy mobile application, users can track critical biomarkers indicative of heart disease risk, overall health decline, heart resilience, and variations in heart function over time. This technology analyses patterns to signal factors such as the likelihood of heart disease, overall health deterioration, heart resilience, and short-term and long-term cardiac function fluctuations.
The HeartPrint assessment measures a broad spectrum of vital health indicators, including cardiovascular age, diabetes risk, OSA risk, cardio-respiratory fitness index, heart rate analysis, cardiac index, blood pressure variability, and stress disorder prediction. All of these will be accessible through the MediBuddy mobile application.
The Resting Heart Assessment is a 5-day procedure where users monitor their heart activity by spending 2 minutes each day on a simple task and scan. After 5 days, users receive a detailed report highlighting key biomarkers, areas for improvement, and personalised recommendations. Similarly, the Reactive Heart Assessment follows the same procedure but spans 7 days.
By incorporating the HeartPrint service into its digital health ecosystem, MediBuddy is set to improve individual health outcomes, reduce out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and mitigate insurer portfolio risks.
As part of its pledge to expand access to quality healthcare, MediBuddy will incorporate the Philips HeartPrint service into its digital health platform which will enable MediBuddy’s network of healthcare partners to employ population health strategies, raise awareness about their services, and ensure timely and appropriate referrals.
Satish Kannan, Co-founder and CEO of MediBuddy, stated, “With heart disease being a leading cause of death in India, early detection is crucial. Our partnership with Philips integrates cutting-edge HeartPrint technology into our platform, revolutionising preventive cardiac care. This collaboration doesn’t just add a feature—it transforms how Indians approach heart health. By providing accessible, advanced tools for cardiac tracking, on the MediBuddy platform accessible through any smart phone we’re enabling millions to take control of their heart health, fostering earlier detection and better outcomes for a healthier nation.”
