Elets Healthcare Innovation Summit

The 12th Elets Healthcare Innovation Summit and Awards 2024, hosted by Elets Technomedia in association with Elets eHealth magazine, brought together industry leaders, policy-makers, and other stakeholders to explore the transformative potential of digital healthcare.

Held on 22nd February at The Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru, the summit witnessed vibrant discussions, insightful panel sessions, and thought-provoking presentations, setting a new benchmark in the domain of healthcare innovation.


The special highlight of the event was the keynote sessions by Dr. Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, Minister, Medical Education, Government of Karnataka, and Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, who emphasised the integral role of technology in healthcare.

Commending the 12th Elets Healthcare Innovation Summit as a collaborative initiative aimed at driving innovation and progress within the country’s healthcare system, Dr. Patil remarked, “Karnataka, renowned for its vibrant culture and spirit of innovation, stands as a frontrunner in healthcare services. Through strategic investments, effective policies and collaborative efforts, Karnataka is a trailblazer state in healthcare innovation services setting new benchmarks for other states to follow.”

Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, highlighted the integral role of techboogy in healthcare. He said, “Access to healthcare stands as a fundamental pillar of any nation’s commitment to the well-being of its people, reflecting the values of compassion and equity within its governance. While advancements in medicine continually offer new possibilities through technology, it is the responsibility of governments and administrations to prioritise those innovations that truly benefit and uplift communities.”

The minister added, “The success of healthcare systems is not solely determined by the existence of cutting-edge technologies but by their thoughtful implementation and accessibility to all. Thus, the true measure of progress lies in the ability of technology to serve the diverse needs of individuals and communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of better health and well-being.”

Sanjeev Kumar Gupta Chief Executive Officer, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) also added invaluable perspective to the discourse in his keynote address.

The summit also witnessed the launch of a special edition of eHealth Magazine, marking a significant milestone in Elets’ journey toward promoting innovation in healthcare. The power-packed day progressed with insightful panel discussions, fireside chats, industry presentations, and networking sessions.

A fireside chat titled “Revolutionising Healthcare with Groundbreaking Government Digital Initiatives”, featuring B Sundar, IFS, Special Secretary, Information Technology Electronics and Communications Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, and Himanshu Burad, Officer on Special Duty, ABDM National Health Authority, Government of India, shared valuable insights into the pivotal role of governmental initiatives in shaping the healthcare landscape.

The panel discussions at the summit covered diverse aspects of healthcare innovation. Discussions on “Striking a Balance: Analysing the Intersection of Technology & Human Touch in Healthcare” delved into the harmonious integration of technology and empathy in healthcare delivery, featuring esteemed speakers such Neeraj Lal, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad; Dr. Emmanuel Rupert, Managing Director & Group CEO, Narayana Health; Dr. Uma Nambiar, Chief Executive Officer, Bagchi Parthasarthy Hospital, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Raj Gore, Chief Executive Officer, Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd; Dr. Riyaz Khan, Cluster CEO, Gleneagles Global Hospitals, and Dr. Sujit Paul, Group CEO, Zota Healthcare Ltd.

Another panel focused on “Addressing Cybersecurity Risks”, exploring strategies to mitigate cybersecurity threats in healthcare organisations, with experts like Dr. Susil Kumar Meher, Head IT, AIIMS, New Delhi, Sudeep Dey, Chief Information Officer, Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd, providing valuable insights.

Emphasising a dual focus on patient safety and experience, the discussion, led by Dr. Kanchan Dua, Associate Vice President – Healthcare Strategy & Transaction, Ernst & Young, underscored the imperative of enhancing healthcare services for improved patient outcomes. Additionally, the “Journey Towards Sustainability and Efficiency” panel, led by industry experts, explored innovative strategies for enhancing sustainability and efficiency in healthcare procurement processes.

The summit featured a series of industry presentations, offering a platform for showcasing innovative solutions and case studies that are shaping the future of healthcare. Covering a wide array of topics, these presentations delved into areas such as “The Future of Healthcare Storytelling” and “Innovation in Everyday Foods for Addressing Diabetes,” providing attendees with valuable insights into the latest advancements and initiatives in the healthcare sector.

One notable presentation titled “Missing Piece of The Jigsaw- Patient Centric Soft Skills Training,” led by Yatish Singh, Head of Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, highlighted the importance of patient-centric soft skills training in healthcare delivery, emphasising the human aspect of care alongside technological advancements.

The summit concluded on a high note with the 12th Elets Healthcare Innovation Awards Ceremony, recognising and celebrating exemplary contributions towards healthcare innovation.
