Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya marked a significant advancement in Madhya Pradesh’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. Recently, he inaugurated the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) Sub Zonal office and the Central Drug Testing Laboratory (CDTL) in Indore. This strategic move is expected to streamline the regulation of drugs, cosmetics, and medical devices in the region, facilitating the provision of high-quality medicines to the public.
The new CDSCO and CDTL at CDSCO Bhawan in Indore will play a crucial role in ensuring the enforcement of the Drugs and Cosmetics Acts and rules, contributing significantly to patient safety and welfare. The CDTL is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory services, including 12 High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) systems, a Gas Liquid Chromatography (GLC) system, and a UV Spectrophotometer. These facilities will enable the rigorous testing and analysis of medicine samples, ensuring their quality and efficacy.
Moreover, Dr. Mandaviya inaugurated six new health facilities at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal. These include a pioneering Drone Station, a Dexa Scan Suite, a Gym Complex, a Trauma and emergency Operation Theatre Complex, the first installation of the Cobas 5800 System for Viral Load Assay in India, and a Private Ward Complex with 16 fully furnished rooms. These additions are a part of the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish AIIMS-like institutions across all states, mirroring the model of AIIMS New Delhi.
Dr. Mandaviya also took part in the diamond jubilee celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College in Indore, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the ‘One District One Medical College’ initiative. This initiative aims to strengthen health monitoring systems in every district, aligning with the national goal of eradicating diseases like TB, Kala-azar, and leprosy.
In addition, the minister released “Essential Pediatrics,” a Hindi book authored by Dr. V K Paul, Member (Health) of NITI Aayog. He also highlighted the success of a comprehensive health survey conducted in Indore, which identified lifestyle-related diseases in nearly half of the city’s population. Building on this success, the “Health of Indore” campaign will be expanded to a national scale as the “Health of India” campaign, aiming to conduct preventive health care tests across multiple cities.
