AIIMS-Delhi has launched a messaging app called ‘Sandes’ to facilitate seamless communication among its staff members and enhance collaboration within the organisation. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Sandes is a secure and user-friendly platform designed to streamline communication within various government organisations. The primary objective of this initiative is to improve connectivity, expedite information sharing, and promote efficient coordination among departments and staff at AIIMS.

Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi, emphasised the significance of technology adoption in improving operational efficiency, patient care, and internal communication within the organisation. Dr. Rima Dada, Professor in charge of the media cell at AIIMS, highlighted that Sandes will primarily be used for internal communication, specifically for exchanging patient care records between doctors and departments. The app’s secure communication, instant messaging, file sharing, and group chat features will facilitate the robust and secure transmission of patient data, enabling faster referrals and enhancing healthcare delivery.

The implementation process involves onboarding employees, who will receive email confirmations with further instructions on using the app. By embracing Sandes as their internal messaging application, AIIMS aims to achieve better connectivity, quicker information sharing, and seamless coordination among all departments and staff members. This will expedite inter-departmental consultations and contribute to faster clinical decision-making, ultimately improving patient care at AIIMS.
