President of India Droupadi Murmu has consented to inaugurate the recently built multi-super specialty hospital in Guindy on June 5, according to a statement made by the Tamil Nadu Government on April 28.

The announcement was made after M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, visited Ms. Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the morning of April 28 to extend an invitation for the hospital’s opening.


According to the release, on June 5 (Monday), the President will officially open the hospital bearing Karunanidhi’s name and take part in the birth centenary celebrations that will take place at Nandanam’s YMCA Ground.

On Karunanidhi’s birthday in 2021, Stalin announced plans to build a new hospital on the grounds of the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research. A 1,000-bed hospital with seven stories and a 51,249 square metre footprint has been constructed at a cost of 230 crore.
