The Elets Global Healthcare Summit & Awards, organised by Elets Technomedia along with its premier eHealth magazine on 20th March in Dubai, explored new opportunities and technologies in healthcare.

The event took place at Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel, Dubai, and was attended by top healthcare leaders, policy-makers, and technology experts from across Asia and the Middle East.

Focusing on the theme “Opportunities and Technologies in Healthcare”, the summit provided an excellent platform for stakeholders to come together and share their knowledge, insights, and experiences.

It featured enriching panel discussions, and presentations focused on how new technologies and emerging opportunities are shaping the future of healthcare, and how these developments can be leveraged to improve patient outcomes.

The summit opened with remarks from Dr. Ravi Gupta, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Elets Technomedia Pvt Ltd, who emphasised the need for collaborative action to build a robust healthcare ecosystem at the global level, harnessing new-age technologies.

“The IT sector is continuously evolving and just when we think we have seen it all, it surprises us with new innovation. One such recent development is the emergence of ChatGPT, which has revolutionised various industries and is expected to have a significant impact on the healthcare industry as well. Over the past four months, ChatGPT has rapidly gained popularity and is now influencing several sectors in unprecedented ways. The healthcare industry needs to keep up with evolving trends and technologies to scale its development,” he said.

The one-day summit engaged participants in interesting and informative discussions on a variety of topics, including healthcare in the Middle East, tech-led innovations, infrastructure challenges, and technologies shaping the future of pharma, etc.

Discussing the evolving healthcare landscape in the Middle East, Ali Juma AlAjme, Director of Digital Health Department, Ministry of Health & Prevention, UAE said, “We can expect to see even more technology-driven products in the healthcare industry in the future.”

Dr. Ismaeel Almakrami, Health Informatics Consultant, Ministry of Health (MOH), Saudi Arabia highlighted how health information technology has enabled us to easily share relevant data with the appropriate individuals in a timely manner. “This allows both patients and healthcare providers to access critical information when they need it most. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen firsthand how the advanced capabilities of information technology systems and applications have provided even more significant benefits to the healthcare industry,” he said.

Majid Zangooei, Secretary General, Health Tourism Development Center of Islamic Countries (HTDC) discussed the vast potential of Islamic countries in the healthcare sector. He said, “Our organisation has a new affiliate called HTDC accreditation, which concentrates on networking and branding. We recognise the vast potential of Islamic countries and aim to promote them globally. We are confident that we can showcase their quality services, competitive pricing, and other strengths to the international market.”

The Elets Global Healthcare Awards ceremony was also hosted at the summit. The awards recognised and felicitated innovative initiatives and technologies with the objective to boost healthcare innovations for a better future.
