The minister for Medical Education, Amit Deshmukh has directed the Sutra Consortium to submit a report to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) on the measures to be taken to curb the spread of Delta-Omicron infections of Covid.


The Consortium Institute, under the chairmanship of Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, made an online presentation on the covid situation in the state. Deshmukh said that “presently, the state government, the central government and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) are giving the guidelines for Covid. As the threat of a possible third wave is being reported by experts, the state government is trying to bring the situation under control. Proposals regarding the study done by the concerned institute on Covid for the last two years should be submitted to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences immediately. The university should send the proposal to the Department of Medical Education, after which the report will be studied by the Department of Medical Education and the Department of Public Health.”

Those present on the occasion included Principal Secretary of Public Health Department Dr. Pradeep Vyas, Secretary of Medical Education Department Saurabh Vijay, Medical Education Commissioner Virendra Singh, Director of Medical Education Dr. Dilip Mhaisekar, Joint Director Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Director of AYUSH Dr. Kohli, Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Lieutenant General (Retd) Madhuri Kanitkar and doctors of the concerned institute.
