Uttar Pradesh crossed a significant landmark with more than 6 crore people — 6,00,98,784 — receiving both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far till December 14.
The most populous state has so far given over 17,94,01,151 covid vaccine doses to people. In addition, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to nearly 81 percent of the eligible adult population. While over 41 percent of the population is fully vaccinated in the state.
Just a week after crossing the seventeen crore dose milestone, UP also inched closer to crossing the 18 crore covid-19 vaccine shots. This will be another major landmark as the state continues to conduct one of the most successful vaccination campaigns in the country.
Standing on the top, Uttar Pradesh has administered 17,94,01,151 total doses. The State is followed by Maharashtra with 12,49,19,693 doses.
In the light of the emergence of the new variant ‘omicron’, the government has expedited its vaccination coverage in the state. According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 11,93,02,367 first doses of the vaccine so far. In terms of second dose, Uttar Pradesh has administered 6,00,98,784 second doses.
– UP close to crossing landmark of 9 crore COVID Tests
Going by the spirit of ‘trace, test, and treat’ policy, daily sample testing has ranged between 2 lakh to 1.5 lakh in Uttar Pradesh. Emerging as a leader in conducting maximum COVID Tests, Uttar Pradesh has tested as many as 8,98,34,011 samples for the novel coronavirus infection so far.
Uttar Pradesh was the first state to have crossed the milestone of conducting eight crore Covid tests. The testing was particularly ramped up to reach the rural pockets of the state. Despite aggressive tracing and testing, Uttar Pradesh’s positivity rate (TPR) — which shows the level of infections among people — stands at 0.01 percent.
