Omicron a more transmissible variant: Dr Randeep Guleria

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Dr Randeep Guleria has advised people to get vaccinated and follow Covid appropriate protocol to prevent themselves from the rapidly spreading Omicron variant of coronavirus. India has reported 213 cases of Omicron till date.

Dr. Guleria also stated that while people are getting vaccinated, with the growing variants, the immunity is also likely to go down. He further added that vaccinations can be tweaked and researches are going in this direction.

With the rising number of Omicron cases in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold a review meeting on the Covid-19 situation on December 23. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates in a twitter thread has warned that the world could be entering into the worst phase of the pandemic with the Omicron variant. He has called for acute caution to be followed as the peak festive season is about to commence.
