covid19 cases

Coronavirus continues to unleash mayhem across the country as the total tally of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 46,433. As per the Union Health Ministry, a total of 3,900 cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The total fatalities stood at 1,568 including 195 deaths in a day.

There are 12,726 people who have been cured or discharged from hospitals so far, the ministry said on Tuesday.

The massive surge in new cases reported a day after the government allowed conditional relaxations in green and orange zones for the first time since the nationwide lockdown was clamped on March 25 to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

As per reports, Tamil Nadu has become the second state after Maharashtra to add more than 500 cases in a day. Gujarat, Rajashthan, Haryana, West Bengal also confirmed a huge single-day rise in COVID-19 count.

Despite a massive surge in the number of cases, the Health Ministry has expressed confidence that things are still under control.

“During lockdown and containment activities, we have been able to control cases relatively,” health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal was quoted saying.
