All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the premier medical institute of the country, has rescheduled the counselling for MBBS admission 2019. As per the official release, the counseling dates have been revised from 20th and 21st August to 26th and 27th August 2019.

“Considering the large number of candidates and guardians participating in the open round of counselling (AIIMS-MBBS-2019), under the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided by the competent authority that for adequate arrangements and ensuring safety, the open round of counselling has been rescheduled from August 20 and 21 to August 26 and 27,” a notice from AIIMS stated.

The window to register for counseling has also been extended from August 18 to August 21 till 5 p.m. Medical aspirants can login to official website of AIIMS-aiimsexams.org and register for the counselling.

On Saturday evening a major fire engulfed the teaching block of the AIIMS. Though there was no loss of life, fire damaged the first, second and third floor of the PC Block. Authorities said the fire that engulfed the hospital’s pre-clinical and teaching block, which also houses the microbiology lab, did not affect patient areas.

Former Union Minister Arun Jaitley is undergoing treatment at the hospital, but he is admitted in a different building, a official said.
