Diya Kumari

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Diya Kumari has won Rajsamand parliamentary seat with a huge margin of 5.51 lakh votes. Kumari, a royal scion, defeated Congress candidate Devkinandan in her maiden Lok Sabha win.

Kumari got 8,63,039 votes against her opponent, Devkinandan who received 3,11,123 votes.


Diya Kumari is the second member of Jaipur’s erstwhile royal family after her grandmother ‘Gayatri Devi’ who has been elected to the 17th Lok Sabha.

The BJP fielded her from Rajsamand seat after sitting BJP MP Hari Om Singh Rathore decided not to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls citing health reasons.


Exhilarated with her emphatic win, Kumari tweeted, “Josh is High! This is the victory of people of Rajsamand. I express gratitude to each and every person whose love and support has made this victory a reality. I will be committed to the betterment and progress of the constituency.”

She contested her maiden election in 2014 assembly polls as a BJP candidate from Sawai Madhopur and won the seat. She did not contest the December 2018 assembly elections and the party chose as a candidate for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Rajsamand seat which consists of eight assembly segments including Beawar, Merta (SC), Degana, Jaitaran, Bhim, Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand, Nathdwara, went to polls on April 29 in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election.
