Healthy Heart is this years theme for the World Heart Day, observed on 29th September by the World Heart Federation. Heart Day is part of an international campaign to spread awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. This is the perfect day to quit smoking, get exercising and start eating healthy “ all in the name of keeping your heart in good working condition, and improving the health and well being of people.
To leverage this global campaign, Association of Hospital (AOH) will call general population to take rapid action to improve knowledge about the heart related diseases. Association will aware people to follow simple steps such as eating more healthily, cutting down on alcohol and stopping smoking which can improve heart health and helps in reducing premature deaths from cardiovascular disease (CVD) by 80 percent.
Dr. PM Bhujang, President, Association of Hospital while suggesting measures said, Your heart is a very important muscle in your body. It is constantly working, yet it never gets tired. Sometimes people may get heart disease. The aim is to improve health by encouraging people to indulge in healthy eating habits and lead a healthy lifestyle. This helps your heart to beat normally, keeping it healthy & strong and also keeps your body strong.
Heart Day was initiated to spread one message that heart problems can now be prevented. So this World Heart Day, lets make sure we all take action to keep our hearts healthy and make a lasting difference to our health he further added.
According to the World Heart Federation, heart disease and strokes are the worlds leading cause of death, killing 17.5 million people every year and by 2030 this is expected to rise to 23 million. One third of these deaths from cardiovascular diseases is premature and occurs among those aged less than 70 years.
