Indian students going to U.S. for medical studies will have to sign a bond stating that they will come back to the country after the completion of studies, according to Union Health Ministery. The ministry has come up with this proposal as a measure to tackle the problem of scarcity of qualified doctors in India; but the decision is creating problems and making it difficult for Indians to practice abroad.
From this year onwards, any student going for further medical education to the US will have to give us a bond that he will come back after finishing the studies. In the last three years, 3000 doctors went abroad for studies and did not return. Now if a student does not come back from the US, he wont be allowed to practice there, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

He also said that the U.S. is now asking for a no-objection certificate from the government for every student joining an American institution. No other country except the US is asking for this NOC, Azad told reporters.
But many feel that such kind of bans and regulations is not the right kind of approach and on the other hand India should be able to give good education to more doctors and provide them a better environment and facilities for practice.
