The Healthcare Study Mission, a two day seminar organized by the CII Delhi State Council in the month of July, 2007, gave an insight into the professional management of Healthcare industry as also on quality patient care, satisfaction and personal attention at optimal costs. The two day Study Mission was aptly titled as “Showcasing the Best Practices In Healthcare”. It is believed that identification of the best healthcare professionals and the state-of-the-art equipment are enablers for the excellent medical care offered by various hospitals. Endeavour is needed to catalyse sustainable development of the Indian Healthcare sector by providing a platform for interactive debate and exchange of best practices between the public sector hospitals, private sector providers and the Government. In keeping with the CII’s initiative to share Best Practices Management of Healthcare Centres, the CII Delhi State Council had organized an experience-sharing Study Mission on 18 -19 July 2007. The two-day mission visited Indraprastha Apollo Hospital; Max Devki Devi Heart & Vascular Institute; Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The objective of the mission was to expose the delegation to the contemporary facilities and services provided by private sector healthcare institutions. The 32-member mission learnt more about private sector intervention in hospital development and management strategy and also studied specific areas of healthcare infrastructure and healthcare delivery in the four organisations. Healthcare delivery, which has traditionally been dominated by smaller players in the private sector, charitable trusts and government, is increasingly seeing the entry of big corporate players. The development in this sector will impact the entire gamut of segments including health delivery, health insurance and healthcare consultancy. Healthcare delivery is witnessing a tremendous change as the providers, financiers and ancillary services gear up to exploit the huge potential in healthcare services.
