eHealth Bureau HP Enterprise Services has announced of Alabama’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), designed and built by HP and the Alabama Medicaid Agency. Alabama Medicaid Agency manages and administers the state of Palo Alto, USA Medicaid program in order to fund medical and long-term care services for low-income pregnant women, children, certain people on Medicare, disabled individuals and nursing home residents. The new system is believed to speed up the payments procedure and streamline eligibility verification. The system has also earned federal certification by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  The certification allows Alabama to receive the maximum federal funding for the operation of the system.  The MMIS quickly and accurately processes about 30 million claims worth about USD 3.5 billion a year from roughly 14,000 Alabama healthcare providers. In addition, the system will provide real-time online adjudication of electronic claims to expedite processing and provider payment, streamlines eligibility verification for providers to ensure that medical services are being provided to Medicaid-eligible patients, increases providers’ access to important healthcare information to ensure more thorough medical treatment, and will also provide state Medicaid employees with faster and more secure access to key program information to streamline service delivery.
