ResMed, a world leader in the design and manufacture of respiratory devices to treat sleep disorders, have announced the acquisition of CPAP and Ventilation distribution of longstanding partner Respicure.
ResMed currently operates in more than 70 countries worldwide and the acquisition is a major step forward for the Indian sleep and respiratory market. The move demonstrates ResMed’s commitment to growth and servicing of customers and patients. It positions the company to make further inroads into diagnosis, leading to improved health outcomes for millions of Indians.
The initiative is a timely move for ResMed as research linking the impact of sleep disorders and associated co-morbidities continues to grow. A recent report released by the International Diabetes Foundation highlighting the association between Type2 diabetes and sleep disordered breathing is of particular relevance to India. The largest diabetes population in the world with an estimated 41 million people, or 6% of the adult population resides in India.
The acquisition sees many members of Respicure’s sales team join ResMed, strengthening their Indian operation to a total of 40 employees. ResMed operates five offices strategically located in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Kanpur.
