Perot Systems, the second largest solution providers for the healthcare vertical in the US, having a $1.25 billion business in the healthcare industry, recently set up shop in Tamil Nadu. It has a global presence in terms of its operations that cover most of Europe and North America, and claims to be the first to set up an infrastructure solutions set-up in Noida. In India, the solution provider now has set-ups in Chennai and Coimbatore (in Tamil Nadu) apart from ones in Bangalore and Noida. With the growing market for the healthcare industry in Tamil Nadu and the talent pool in the state for this sector on the rise, apart from technically sound young minds, Perot Systems seem to be sure that the movement of skilled labour should not be a problem. However the attrition rate in the back office work is on the rise and that has pushed them to Philippines where there is a steady and stable work force. Today, Coimbatore is among the few noted places that provide consistent talent for the healthcare industry in India. Perot Systems claim to be among the few solution providing companies in India that has moved to a tier-II city like Coimbatore. With contracts across the globe with Government organisations, Perot is yet to negotiate its entry with the Government of India, who, Perot says need to bring about a drive to modernise and adapt to state-of-the-art technology in the healthcare system to provide quality. Although in negotiations with private Indian healthcare players and various other corporate hospitals for providing customised solutions, the response is yet to show.
