Chennai-based Heartline Telemedicine Services has entered into an agreement with an Israeli company to introduce wireless telemedicine technology in India. The wireless telemedicine technology will provide patients accessibility to a doctor, 24 hours a day from anywhere, who could monitor them through computers and offer medical advice through computer or phone. The technology enables patients to be monitored anywhere and at any time through pocket personal computers, mobile and basic telephones. The monitoring of ECG, BP, pulse, glucose and saturation can be monitored with the use of the technology, even when the patient is on travel. But the patients have to take on lease or purchase mobile ECG, BP and sugar level measuring machines. These equipments are available in small portable cases. The results will be transmitted through telephone or satellite from any part of the world to the base computer in the hospital and the doctors will report back to the patients on the steps to be taken immediately in case of an emergency.
