Vadodara-based excipients maker Sudeep Pharma Limited has received the regulatory go-ahead to start manufacturing at its new greenfield pharma facility at 179 Nandesari, Gujarat, adding 51,200 metric tonnes of installed annual capacity across pharmaceutical, food and nutrition, and specialty ingredients.

The approval, granted by the Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDA), authorises the company to commence manufacturing operations at the site. Sudeep Pharma disclosed the development to the stock exchanges on 26 October 2026, stating that the approval confirms the plant’s manufacturing systems, quality controls and compliance framework meet the requirements to begin operations.
Commercial supplies expected in H2 FY27
The company expects commercial supplies from Nandesari to begin in the second half of FY27, once customer qualification processes are completed. For an excipients and ingredients supplier, that qualification step is often the real gating factor: formulators and nutrition brands typically audit a new site and validate material from it before switching volumes. Sudeep said the approval now lets it accelerate those audits and onboard both new and existing customers at the facility.

How the new capacity will be used
Roughly 60% of the plant’s capacity is earmarked for Sudeep Pharma’s existing pharma and food & nutrition portfolio. The remaining capacity will go to newer product categories, including phosphates, glycinates, gluconates and citrates.
The plant also carries dedicated capacity for higher-value ingredients. In particular, it frees up room for bisglycinates, a class of mineral chelates where the company said output at its existing mother plant had been constrained. The additional lines are intended to help Sudeep scale up its specialised ingredients portfolio and strengthen its presence in regulated markets.
What the management said
“The FDA approval for our 179 Nandesari greenfield facility marks an important milestone in our growth journey, enabling us to commence manufacturing operations and unlock significant additional capacity,” said Sujit Bhayani, Managing Director, Sudeep Pharma Limited. He added that the facility gives the company flexibility to expand across existing and newer categories, including bisglycinates, and to pursue larger opportunities in international markets.
Why it matters for India’s pharma supply chain
Excipients and mineral-based ingredients rarely make headlines, but they sit in almost every tablet, capsule, sachet and fortified nutrition product. As Indian formulators push deeper into regulated export markets, the reliability, quality documentation and scale of domestic excipient suppliers is becoming a bigger part of the supply-chain conversation, alongside APIs and key starting materials.
Sudeep Pharma, listed on the NSE and BSE, manufactures pharmaceutical excipients, food and nutrition ingredients and specialty mineral-based solutions for customers in India and overseas. It is also building a battery-materials business through its subsidiary, Sudeep Advanced Materials.
Ingredient capacity, quality systems and supply-chain resilience are among the themes on the agenda at India Pharma Expo 2027 and the NextGen Pharma Summit & Awards, organised by Elets Technomedia.
