The Maharashtra Public Health & Digital Healthcare Summit 2026, hosted by the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, co-hosted by the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra, and organised by Elets Technomedia, concluded successfully on 2 September 2026 at Taj President, Mumbai. The summit brought together policymakers, public health leaders, healthcare institutions, technology experts, innovators and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the future of public healthcare, digital transformation and technology-enabled healthcare delivery in Maharashtra.
The summit served as a strategic platform for discussions around Artificial Intelligence, digital health, integrated healthcare systems, data-driven governance, smarter infrastructure and technology-enabled service delivery. It highlighted how emerging technologies and stronger collaboration between government, healthcare institutions and industry can improve accessibility, efficiency, preventive care and healthcare outcomes across the state.
The event commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr Ravi Gupta, Founder & CEO, Elets Technomedia and Editor-in-Chief, eHealth Magazine, who reflected on Elets’ nearly two-decade journey in healthcare technology and digital transformation. He highlighted Elets’ healthcare journey, which began with the launch of eHealth magazine in 2005, and its continued efforts to bring together governments, industry, academia, healthcare professionals, NGOs and startups to exchange knowledge and showcase innovations.
Shri E. Ravendiran, IAS, Secretary – 2, Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra, in his Opening Remarks, highlighted Maharashtra’s focus on strengthening accessible primary healthcare and ensuring services are available within a five-kilometre radius or a 15–20-minute reach for communities. He emphasised the importance of moving from fragmented systems towards a unified digital health platform that connects patient records, procurement, medicines, insurance, and healthcare services. He also highlighted the potential of AI and health data to strengthen diagnosis and preventive healthcare.
Shri Aman Mittal, Joint Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA), Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra, highlighted the growing role of technology, data and smarter infrastructure in transforming healthcare delivery. He emphasised that AI, integrated digital systems, geospatial planning, telemedicine and public-private partnerships can help strengthen referral networks, expand access in underserved areas and support more effective long-term healthcare planning.
The summit also featured insights from Shikha Dahiya, Joint Director, India AI Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, who highlighted India’s efforts to build the foundations for AI adoption through compute capacity, datasets, indigenous AI models and practical applications. She emphasised the importance of moving from AI infrastructure to real-world impact across sectors, including healthcare, while ensuring that principles of privacy, consent, explainability and responsible AI remain central to deployment.
Delivering the Special Address, Shri Prakash Abitkar, Hon’ble Minister, Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, reiterated the state’s commitment to providing affordable, accessible and quality healthcare services to citizens. He highlighted the role of technology, Artificial Intelligence and digital platforms in improving efficiency, transparency, monitoring and timely service delivery, while emphasising the need to translate technological possibilities into practical solutions that deliver better healthcare outcomes.
A major highlight of the summit was the launch of the eHealth magazine special edition titled Maharashtra Digital Healthcare during the inaugural ceremony. The special edition captures Maharashtra’s evolving digital healthcare landscape, highlighting key initiatives, innovations and emerging opportunities shaping the state’s journey towards a more connected, technology-enabled and future-ready healthcare ecosystem.
The summit reinforced the importance of building a connected, accessible and AI-enabled public health ecosystem, with discussions highlighting how integrated data, digital platforms and emerging technologies can support more responsive healthcare delivery. The deliberations also underscored the need for continued government-industry collaboration to develop scalable and citizen-centric solutions for Maharashtra’s evolving healthcare needs.
