The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organised a two-day National Conference of Ministries, Departments and Organisations (MDOs) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare on August 20–21, 2026, in New Delhi. The conference focused on strengthening organisational capacity and supporting the effective implementation of Mission Karmayogi.
Organised by the Training Division of the Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and Karmayogi Bharat, the conference brought together representatives from 140 institutes under the department.
The conference provided a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and collaboration, with discussions centred on promoting a whole-of-government approach and reducing organisational silos.

Dr Alka Mittal, Member, Capacity Building Commission, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest, while Rakesh Verma, Chief Operating Officer, Karmayogi Bharat, was also present.
On the second day, Dr Vinod Kotwal, Additional Secretary (Training), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, highlighted the importance of capacity building and encouraged participating organisations to contribute to Health Domain courses covering caregivers, nursing and allied health professionals, geriatric care and other priority areas.
She also called on organisations to strengthen their Capacity Building Units and expedite the finalisation of the Annual Capacity Building Plan for 2026–27.
Top-performing MDOs were also felicitated for their contribution during Sadhana Saptah. The Department of Health and Family Welfare secured third rank in the category of organisations with more than 50,000 employees.
The conference concluded with presentations highlighting achievements, challenges and the way forward, followed by the distribution of certificates to participants. The initiative reinforces the Health Ministry’s focus on developing institutional capabilities, strengthening workforce competencies and promoting coordinated capacity-building efforts across the health sector.
