Mahajan Imaging & Labs has reported a 32% increase in cancer-related diagnostic investigations across its Delhi-NCR centres between June 2025 and June 2026, highlighting the growing importance of preventive healthcare and early cancer detection in India.

The findings were presented during a webinar on ‘Prevention and Early Detection of Cancer’, where leading oncologists, radiologists, and laboratory experts called for organised cancer screening to become a routine part of healthcare rather than relying on symptom-driven diagnosis. Experts emphasised that early detection remains one of the most effective ways to improve survival rates and reduce the burden of cancer.

The diagnostic network recorded a significant rise in preventive screening during the study period, with Pap Smear tests increasing by 83%, Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests by 280%, and Mammography examinations by 26%. However, specialists noted that despite growing awareness, many cancers in India continue to be diagnosed only after symptoms develop.

Mahajan Imaging & Labs also reported conducting 5,063 breast imaging examinations, including mammography, breast MRI and ultrasound, with 411 cases requiring further clinical evaluation. Similarly, 192 of the 600 prostate MRI examinations revealed suspicious findings suggestive of clinically significant prostate cancer. To strengthen advanced cancer diagnostics, the organisation has established a dedicated Whole Body MRI Centre in Gurugram equipped with an AI-enabled wide-bore 3 Tesla MRI system.

Experts concluded that expanding access to quality diagnostics and evidence-based screening programmes will play a crucial role in reducing cancer mortality and improving long-term patient outcomes.
