Gujarat has made significant progress in its fight against tuberculosis (TB) under the national TB elimination programme, achieving around 94% of its detection and treatment targets.
According to official data, the state identified and registered 1,31,801 TB patients against a target of 1,40,000. Of these, 1,25,301 patients were initiated on treatment, while 1,21,912 patients completed treatment, reflecting a high level of treatment coverage and completion.
To support patients during treatment, financial assistance has been provided under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana. In 2025, around ₹49.10 crore was disbursed to 92,921 beneficiaries, aimed at providing nutritional support during the course of treatment.
The programme also includes community participation through Nikshay Mitras, with 31,058 volunteers registered to support TB patients. These volunteers assist with nutritional support and follow-up during treatment.
As part of intensified efforts, Gujarat conducted large-scale screening under a 100-day TB elimination campaign, covering over 75 lakh individuals. This led to the identification of over 1.63 lakh TB cases, which were subsequently brought under treatment.
The state’s efforts focus on early detection, treatment initiation, patient support, and community engagement under the TB elimination programme.
