IHLD & Krafton (1)

Aimed at combating tuberculosis (TB) in India, the Institute of Heart and Lung Diseases (IHLD) has joined forces with Krafton India. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the fight against TB, leveraging the combined resources and expertise of both organizations.

Under the auspices of the Prime Minister TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, this initiative targets active TB case detection in one district each of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh (UP). With TB remaining a pressing global health concern, particularly in India where approximately 3.2 lakh lives were lost to the disease in 2023 alone, this collaborative effort underscores a shared commitment to eradicating TB by 2025.

Speaking on the importance of this collaboration, Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India, highlighted the severity of TB as a public health challenge and reiterated Krafton India’s dedication to supporting national and global health objectives.

Dr. Rahul Chandola, Founder-Chairman of IHLD Research Centre, emphasized the organization’s commitment to contributing to the National TB Elimination Program. Through this partnership, IHLD aims to screen approximately 1 lakh individuals over the next 12 months, with the goal of increasing TB detection by 10-15% in the target districts, thus enhancing disease surveillance and management efforts.

Innovative approaches are central to the success of this initiative. Dr. Chandola emphasized the use of AI-supported X-ray machines for initial screening, enabling swift and accurate identification of potential TB cases. This technological intervention streamlines the screening process and enhances early detection, a critical aspect in combating the spread of TB.

Beyond immediate objectives, the partnership envisions fostering healthier communities and contributing to the larger goal of TB elimination in India. By leveraging combined resources, expertise, and commitment, the initiative aims to catalyze sustainable change in the healthcare landscape of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Success in this endeavor hinges not only on active case finding programs but also on fostering collaboration, raising awareness, and ensuring access to quality healthcare services. Through concerted efforts and collective engagement, the initiative aspires to create a future where TB no longer poses a threat to the health and well-being of communities, ultimately contributing to the realization of a TB-free India.
