NASSCOM FutureSkills PRIME

As digital innovation and adaptability become increasingly important to create a digital healthcare ecosystem, NASSCOM FutureSkills PRIME has collaborated with Apollo Hospitals to launch a Joint Technical Educational Platform. This “unique” collaboration will help in promoting multi-skilling and re-skilling along with enabling unlearning and re-learning to stay relevant, efficient, and productive.

Upskilling through the technical education platform will lead to an ‘alternate” way of thinking thereby adding a high level of effectiveness to overall healthcare delivery. The collaboration with NASSCOM FutureSkills PRIME takes learning to the next level with a single comprehensive destination for skilling that will cover the use of digital technology in healthcare management as well as its use to create an effective healthcare delivery ecosystem across societies.

“With the advancement of conventional and disruptive technologies, the healthcare sector in India is transforming, characterized by new-age skills such as AI and data analytics to embrace technology for healthcare transformation. This platform in collaboration with NASSCOM FutureSkills and Apollo Hospitals is a step towards moving away from the traditional healthcare practices and advancing towards reskilling/upskilling and building cross-skills between core healthcare and digital. The healthcare workforce needs to be ready and skilled in not just developments in conventional medical practices, but also in the digital revolution, which is rapidly taking place,” Amit Aggarwal, ‎CEO, ‎IT-ITES Sector Skill Council of India, NASSCOM said in a press statement.

Added Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint MD, Apollo Hospitals Group: “We see this partnership with NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime as an integral part of the digital transformation, which Apollo has championed over the last few years. A new era in healthcare beckons driven by the convergence of various technologies such as mobile phones, sensors, cloud computing, AI, ML, genomics, and imaging. The healthcare workforce needs to be ready and skilled in not just the conventional medical practices, but also in the digital revolution, which is rapidly taking place.”

The upskilling through the technical education platform will lead to an “alternate” way of thinking and executing thereby adding a high level of effectiveness to overall healthcare delivery, Reddy also added. “The entire body of medical knowledge has begun to double every 73 days as compared with every 7 years in 1980 and every 50 years in 1950. While the use of this data can increase access to healthcare, one can only imagine the level of digital technology and skills required to make use of this vast repository of knowledge. This initiative will further our vision to create an ecosystem that drives learning, digital skilling, and preparedness for the digital healthcare of the future while helping to unleash the innovative thinking that is integral to digital technologies.”

Over the last 3 decades, India has become a global leader in IT, with the largest tech talent pool of 4.47 million, 138,000 net new hires to add over $4 billion revenues despite the pandemic. To create the necessary talent pipeline even in the healthcare ecosystem, this Joint Technical Educational Platform will further NASSCOM and Apollo’s vision to create an ecosystem that drives learning, digital skilling, and preparedness for the digital healthcare of the future, while helping to unleash the innovative thinking that is integral to digital technologies, the officials said.

Owing to the skill shortage, it can be observed that the coming two decades will see 90% of jobs requiring some level of digital proficiency. Hence, honing the new-age skill technologies including AI, ML, cloud, and data analytics can not only increase access to healthcare for all but also help reduce the medical skill gap amongst doctors and other medical staff, they said.
