Haryana is building a GIS health map that will put every government hospital, primary health centre (PHC), sub-health centre and AYUSH facility in the state on one digital platform. Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr Sumita Misra reviewed the mapped data at a meeting, the state said in an official statement on 1 November 2026.

The platform will let citizens find the nearest public health facility from a single interface, and give the government one location-based view of its health infrastructure. It is the latest step after the state’s expansion of e-Upchar OPD pre-registration and UPI payments across public hospitals.
What the Haryana GIS health map will cover
Facility records in Haryana are currently held separately by three departments. The Geographic Information System (GIS) project brings them into one common database, covering institutions under:

- the Health Department, from district hospitals to PHCs and sub-health centres
- the AYUSH Department
- the Medical Education and Research (MER) Department, which runs medical college hospitals
For each facility, the platform will hold its geographical location, basic institutional details and photographs. GIS mapping data collected from facilities across the state was presented at the review, and Dr Misra directed officials to consolidate it on one platform and open relevant details to the public wherever feasible.
HARSAC to manage the geospatial database
The Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC), the state’s nodal agency for remote sensing and geospatial applications, will provide technical support to run the GIS database. It will also help share the mapped information with other state departments, so the same facility data can feed planning outside the health system.
Why a health facility map matters for planning
For patients, the immediate benefit is simple: one place to check where the nearest government hospital, PHC or AYUSH centre is, instead of searching across department websites. For administrators, the bigger value is analytical. Seeing every facility on a map makes it easier to spot underserved blocks, compare the spread of infrastructure between urban and rural areas, and decide where new centres or upgrades should go.
The project adds to a run of digital health measures in Haryana. Beyond the e-Upchar Hospital Management Information System, online OPD registration and Scan-and-Register, the state recently made Healthcare Professional Registry IDs mandatory for doctors, nurses and pharmacists. Other states are digitising the care side of the system too, with Madhya Pradesh taking government hospitals paperless under HIMS and Tripura onboarding all government hospitals onto IHMIS.
The state has not yet announced a launch date for the public interface or said how many facilities have been mapped so far.
Key takeaways
- Haryana is mapping all public health facilities, including hospitals, PHCs, sub-health centres and AYUSH units, on one GIS platform.
- Records from the Health, AYUSH and MER departments will move into a single database with locations, details and photographs.
- HARSAC will manage the geospatial database and share data with other departments for planning.
