Ahmedabad-based generics maker Senores Pharmaceuticals is adding manufacturing capacity in India and the United States at the same time. In a stock exchange filing on 29 October 2026, the company said its board had noted capacity expansion plans at three subsidiaries, with a combined estimated outlay of ₹43 crore and completion targeted by the end of March 2027.

What is being added

  • Havix Group Inc, USA: capacity at the existing US plant will rise from 1.2 billion to 2.0 billion units a year, at an estimated cost of ₹18 crore.
  • Apnar Pharma, India: capacity will more than double, from 0.5 billion to 1.2 billion units a year, at an estimated cost of ₹20 crore.
  • Ratnatris Pharmaceuticals: a new prefilled syringe line with a capacity of 2.7 million units a year is being added, at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore.

The company said the expansions are meant to meet existing and future demand, and that they will be funded through internal accruals and proceeds from its IPO. According to the filing, the Havix facility is currently running at roughly 50 to 70 per cent of its existing capacity, which means the new lines are being built ahead of demand rather than in response to a bottleneck.

Turning approvals into supply

For a generics company, approved products only turn into revenue when there is capacity to make them. Senores had 58 approved ANDAs as of June 2026, up from 30 a year earlier, of which 23 had been commercialised, according to Trade Brains, leaving a sizeable pipeline of approved products still waiting for a launch slot.

The US is the company’s largest market, accounting for roughly 71 per cent of sales in the June quarter, with emerging markets contributing about 21 per cent. In Q1 FY27, consolidated revenue from operations rose about 36 per cent year on year to ₹180.21 crore, while net profit increased about 42 per cent to ₹30.45 crore.

Why the US plant matters

The expansion at Havix gives Senores more manufacturing on American soil at a time when US policy is pushing for local production of medicines. Indian companies supply close to half of all generic prescriptions dispensed in the US, and analysts have pointed to proposed future tariffs on imported generics unless manufacturers build US capacity. A US-based plant serving the company’s biggest market offers a hedge against that risk, while the Apnar expansion adds oral solid dosage capacity in India that can serve both regulated and emerging markets.

Prefilled syringes enter the mix

The new Ratnatris line is small in rupee terms but significant in direction. Prefilled syringes are a growing format for injectables in regulated markets because they reduce dosing errors and preparation time, and Indian manufacturers have been steadily adding this capability to move up the sterile injectables value chain.

What it means for Indian pharma manufacturing

Senores’ plan reflects a pattern seen across mid-sized Indian generics companies: building a dual footprint in India and the US, using listing proceeds to add capacity, and adding complex dosage forms such as prefilled syringes alongside high-volume oral solids. Capacity, compliance and delivery formats of this kind are central themes for the industry heading into India Pharma Expo 2027.
