AstraZeneca India has become the first company in the country to introduce a dedicated Group Cancer Insurance Policy for its employees, partnering with Howden Insurance Brokers India to strengthen workplace health protection.
The specialised policy provides cancer insurance coverage of up to ₹30 lakh per employee, including coverage for pre-existing cancer cases without any waiting period. Designed to address the long-term financial burden of cancer treatment, the initiative fills a critical gap in conventional employee health insurance plans.
According to Howden, dedicated group cancer insurance products have remained largely unavailable in India due to concerns around incidence risk, pricing uncertainty, and limited actuarial data.

Developed in collaboration with select insurers, the policy aims to provide comprehensive financial protection while ensuring faster access to quality cancer care.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in corporate healthcare benefits and reflects a growing focus on employee well-being, preventive healthcare, and financial security. It also sets a new benchmark for workplace health insurance, encouraging organisations to adopt more comprehensive health protection programmes.
