Biocon Limited has appointed Shreehas P. Tambe as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, following the resignation of Siddharth Mittal, who previously served as CEO and Managing Director of the company.
Siddharth Mittal, who submitted his resignation, will step down at the close of business hours to take up another leadership role within the Biocon Group. He will also cease to be a key managerial personnel of the company.
The Board, based on the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation, appointed Shreehas Pradeep Tambe as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for a five-year term subject to shareholder approval. He will also join the Board as an Additional Director from the same date.
The transition comes alongside the integration of Biocon Biologics Limited into the parent entity, creating a unified structure across biosimilars and generics businesses.
Shreehas Tambe currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Biocon Biologics, a role he assumed in 2022. Prior to this, he served as Chief Operating Officer and later as Deputy CEO of Biocon Biologics, overseeing enterprise-wide operations and global growth.
Separately, Interim Chief Financial Officer Mukesh Kamath has resigned and will move to another role within the group. The company has appointed Kedar Upadhye as Chief Financial Officer.
As part of broader organisational changes, Akhilesh Nand has been designated Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance and key managerial personnel. Naveen Narayanan will take over as Chief Human Resources Officer, and Mandar Shrikant Ghatnekar as Chief Technology Officer.
Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw said the integration positions Biocon as a “globally scaled biopharma enterprise,” adding that Tambe has led key milestones, including the acquisition and integration of the Viatris biosimilars business. Shaw also said Mittal played a key role in shaping the company’s growth since 2013.
Tambe said it was an “honor and privilege” to lead the company at a time when its biologics and generics businesses are being brought together. He said his focus will be on strengthening the company’s foundation, consolidating operations, and accelerating sustainable growth.
