Thermo Fisher Scientific has expanded its footprint in India’s life sciences and bioprocessing ecosystem with the launch of two advanced facilities—a Customer Experience Centre (CEC) and a Bioprocess Design Centre (BDC)—in Hyderabad’s Genome Valley. The centres are designed to accelerate research, innovation, and workforce development for India’s rapidly growing biopharma and healthcare sectors.
The Bioprocess Design Centre, developed in partnership with the Government of Telangana and supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, will serve as a high-end technology scale-up facility. The centre is equipped for bench-to-pilot scale work across biologics, vaccines, and advanced therapeutics, offering capabilities in cell culture, microbial fermentation, purification, and analytical testing. It aims to help companies prototype, optimise, and scale processes using modern single-use bioprocessing systems.
Complementing this, the Customer Experience Centre acts as a collaborative hub where scientists, startups, academics, and industry professionals can gain hands-on exposure to over 50 integrated workflows covering 20+ applications. These range across cell and gene therapy, mRNA, oncology research, proteomics, analytical sciences, clean energy, and semiconductor-related applications. The CEC will also enable co-development initiatives and practical training on Thermo Fisher’s flagship technologies.
Together, the centres are expected to support 200–250 researchers and scientists annually, offering training, infrastructure access, and technology-driven collaboration to strengthen India’s innovation pipeline.
A Strategic Boost to Telangana’s Life Sciences Mission
The launch aligns with Telangana’s vision to position itself as a global life sciences innovation hub. Speaking at the inauguration, Shri. D. Sridhar Babu, Minister of IT and Industries, Government of Telangana, said the state is targeting INR 1 lakh crore in life sciences investments by 2030. He noted that partnerships with global technology leaders like Thermo Fisher will play a crucial role in driving high-value R&D, skill development, and industrial growth.

Srinath Venkatesh, Managing Director for India and South Asia, Thermo Fisher Scientific, added that these centres mark a significant step in building a sustainable and innovation-ready ecosystem combining talent, infrastructure, and cutting-edge technologies.
Thermo Fisher has invested INR 85–90 crore into developing the CEC and BDC, signalling continued confidence in India’s role as a global biopharma and life sciences leader.
