Terumo India, a subsidiary of Japan-based Terumo Corporation, has introduced its Terufusion™ Advanced Infusion Systems in India, bringing connected infusion technology to support safer and more efficient drug administration in intensive care units (ICUs).

The system integrates three key components—Smart Syringe Pump, Smart Infusion Pump (volumetric), and Pump Monitoring System (PMS) software—designed to deliver precise medication dosing, strengthen patient safety, and streamline ICU workflows.

Responding to India’s Growing Critical Care Needs

With India’s critical care capacity now exceeding 95,000 ICU beds, and demand for high-dependency care rising, the need for advanced infusion solutions has never been greater. Terufusion™ Advanced Infusion Systems offer hospitals digital capabilities such as remote monitoring, integrated drug libraries, and customizable dose modes, helping healthcare teams move toward smarter, more transparent ICU operations.

Leadership Perspective

Speaking on the launch, Shishir Agarwal, President and Managing Director, Terumo India, said, “At Terumo India, our brand promise has always been ‘Unwavering Commitment to Patients’. The introduction of Terufusion™ is a meaningful step in supporting India’s critical care ecosystem with global innovations. By bringing smart, connected infusion technologies, we aim to advance future-ready healthcare that is inclusive, clinically impactful, and aligned with the needs of patients and providers.”

Echoing the importance of technology-driven care, Dharampal Singh Rawat, Senior Director – Cardiovascular, Terumo Aortic and Medication Management, added,  “With evolving disease patterns and tighter treatment timelines, clinicians need precise yet simple tools. Terufusion™ with Pump Monitoring System was developed to provide nurses and doctors greater control and visibility, ensuring safer and more confident drug delivery in ICUs.”

Transforming ICU Workflows

For nursing staff, the solution reduces manual errors, improves visibility in drug delivery, and simplifies pump management, easing daily workload pressures. Hospitals adopting the platform can benefit from higher workflow efficiency and improved monitoring across critical care environments.

Commitment to Innovation in India

The launch reinforces Terumo India’s strategy of expanding its intelligent, high-precision medical technologies portfolio. Over the past two years, the company has introduced multiple innovations in India, including the TREO Abdominal Stent-Graft System and the Ultimaster Nagomi Drug-Eluting Stent, underscoring its focus on equipping clinicians with world-class solutions tailored to Indian healthcare needs.
