In a significant development aimed at enhancing patient convenience and promoting digital transactions, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today launched the AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card at AIIMS, New Delhi. This innovative initiative, a collaboration between the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the State Bank of India (SBI), aims to streamline payment processes for patients availing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card is designed to address the longstanding issue of patients, especially those from remote areas, having to carry cash for medical expenses. With the introduction of this card, patients and their caretakers can now make hassle-free payments at various counters within AIIMS, eliminating the need for carrying cash.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the significance of this initiative in enhancing patient care services and aligning with the Digital India initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The minister highlighted that the Smart Payment Card, often referred to as ‘One AIIMS, One Card,’ will not only facilitate easy fund transfers but also ensure the safety and security of transactions.

Furthermore, Dr. Mandaviya announced plans to extend the services of the AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card to all 22 AIIMS institutions across the country in the near future. This move is expected to further enhance the accessibility and convenience of healthcare services for patients nationwide.

In addition to launching the Smart Payment Card, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between AIIMS, New Delhi, and SBI to formalize the implementation of the card system. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both institutions to leverage technology for the betterment of healthcare delivery and patient welfare.

The introduction of the AIIMS-SBI Smart Payment Card marks another milestone in India’s journey towards a digital healthcare ecosystem and reaffirms the government’s commitment to providing accessible and efficient healthcare services to all citizens.
