AIIMS partners with IREDA

In an effort to embrace sustainable practices and reduce its environmental impact, the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has joined hands with the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). The collaboration aims to initiate a comprehensive technical assessment of the AIIMS campus to facilitate its conversion into a solar-powered facility.

The partnership entails IREDA undertaking a thorough techno-commercial assessment of the AIIMS campus. The assessment, outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), includes various stages such as creating financial models, conducting pre-feasibility studies, and preparing a detailed project report (DPR). IREDA will also assist in analyzing technical and commercial aspects related to project development, finalizing commercial and contracting arrangements, and defining performance indicators.

The first step in this green initiative has already been taken, as a nine-kilowatt rooftop solar plant at the AIIMS New Delhi campus was inaugurated recently. By implementing solar power projects and harnessing renewable energy, AIIMS aims to significantly reduce its electricity expenditure while making substantial progress in minimizing its carbon footprint, all with the valuable support of IREDA. This transformative move is a testament to AIIMS’ commitment to sustainability and its leadership in the healthcare sector’s transition towards greener practices.
