In a meeting with the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership, Dr. Lucica Ditiu, and her team expressed their appreciation for the “unprecedented leadership by the Government of India” in spearheading the global TB elimination response. Dr. Ditiu commended India’s efforts as well for articulating a clear strategy and for accelerating the rollout of crucial programmatic and policy interventions, such as new diagnostic tools, social support programmes, and the development of a new tuberculosis vaccine. The discussion also focused on India’s strong leadership position in the fight to eradicate tuberculosis and the chance to change the global conversation around the disease through India’s forthcoming G20 Presidency.

The Stop TB Partnership’s Board is also led by Dr. Mandaviya till 2024. In Varanasi, India, on March 25–26, 2023, Dr. Mandaviya consented to host the 36th Board meeting of the Stop TB Partnership. On March 24, 2023, which is also recognised as World TB Day globally, a high-level event will take place before the Board meeting.

The Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which has attracted over 40,492 donations to help over 10,45,269 patients nationwide, was also praised by the organisation. In order to build a movement led by the community to eradicate TB, this involves offering additional social support to TB patients who are struggling with treatment and its advantages. In addition, Dr. Ditiu pledged to assist ten TB patients with this project.
