Precaution doses

Aiming to provide an additional protection cover to health care workers, frontline workers and senior citizens, the Uttar pradesh government has administered a record 1.65 lakh ‘precaution doses’ within the last three days. The state started administering booster shots (precaution dose) to the frontline and healthcare workers as well as senior citizens from January 10.

The most populous state has so far given over 21,91,15,927 booster shots to people. In addition, as Uttar Pradesh continues to conduct the vaccination drive, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to over 90.71 percent of the eligible adult population. While over 54.90 percent of the population is fully vaccinated in the state.

Strengthening its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to vaccinate all children between 15 to 18 years of age by January 15. So far, over 34,25,659 teens have been administered vaccine doses in the state. Standing on the top, Uttar Pradesh has administered 21.91 crore total doses. The State is followed by Maharashtra with 14.12 crore doses. In the light of the emergence of the new variant ‘omicron’, the government has expedited its vaccination coverage in the state. According to the latest figures on CoWin, Uttar Pradesh has administered 13.76 first doses of the vaccine so far.
