Mumbai infected with Omicron

Of the 14,918 passengers having arrived at Mumbai International Airport from November 1 till date, 194, or one and a half percent of passengers have been affected by Omicron. Out of these, 179 patients have been discharged and only 15 patients are undergoing treatment. There are 119 males and 75 females and 95 passengers are from outside Mumbai.

Among of the total international passengers at the airport, 239 passengers were stranded by Covid. It included 138 males and 101 females. Of the domestic passengers, 128 were found to be infected with Covid.

Further, there have been 36 high-risk contacts with Covid victims. Of the victims found so far, 215 are residents of Mumbai. None of the patients are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 26,538 new cases, 8 deaths and 5,331 discharges on Wednesday. The city of Mumbai recorded 15,014 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, the highest single-day surge witnessed since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. The daily positivity rate also shot up to 25%.
