UP becomes first state

The number of persons fully vaccinated against COVID-19 crossed the four-crore mark in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. The state has become the first in India to achieve this milestone.

As per data from the Cowin portal, 4.03 crore persons in UP have taken both the doses of the vaccine. Data also indicated that in Maharashtra 3.45 crore persons had taken both the doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The sustained availability of vaccines and accurate strategy, mainly the cluster model 2.0 being adopted by the state government along with the hard work of the health workers is responsible for the achievement.

As many as 8 lakh anti-Covid vaccines were administered on November 17 across the state, taking the total vaccination count to above 14.37 crore. Out of this, 10.33 crore persons have received the first dose for COVID-19. Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the fastest state in India to carry out Covid-19 vaccination.

Around 70 per cent of the state’s total eligible adult population has received at least one dose, while more than 27 per cent are fully immunised.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has already issued directions to speed up vaccination and ordered the officers to deliver vaccine doses to 100% eligible population of the state by November end.
