Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, the Hyderabad-based pharma major, is reportedly in talks with the union government for bringing the Russian single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine into India. The Russian government had approved a single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine whose trials are undergoing in many countries.

The union government hopes for a swift launch of a single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine in the country. All stakeholders that include the Russian producer and its Indian partners have also reportedly been told to expedite the application as well as regulatory approval procedures for the dose for accelerating India’s national vaccination drive.

It is expected that an application for regulatory approval for the single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine will be filed in the next coming weeks. This could be the maiden single-dose vaccine to be rolled out in India.

The single-dose Sputnik Light vaccine showed 79.4% efficacy. This is according to analysed data obtained from 28 days post the administration of the injection, the company says on its website.
