The Uttar Pradesh government is set to procure the Russian Sputnik V and other foreign vaccines of Johnson & Johnson and Moderna as it sets its eyes to augment its vaccine stock to inculcate its residents.
The officials of the UP government is reportedly expecting overseas participations of these vaccine producers as UP became the first state in the country to float the global tender last week.
The Uttar Pradesh government floated a global tender for procuring 4 crores vaccine doses over the next six months. The state government will however select only those vaccine producers that been approved or will receive approval by the union government.
Meanwhile, Odisha has have become the fifth state in the country to float global tenders for procuring vaccines from international manufacturers. Odisha has also requested the union government to grant an exemption on these imported vaccines from tax liabilities for reducing the burden on the state’s finances. The decision came after Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik-chaired meeting.
