The country has added around 30,000 MBBS seats and 24,000 PG medicine seats since the incumbent BJP-led NDA government came to power in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said.
Emphasising that the government is keen to transform the health sector, Modi viewed that the newly-formed regulatory body, the National Medical Commission would bring in more transparency.
He also said that the Union government would provide funding of over Rs 2,000 crore for each of 11 new medical colleges that have been approved in Tamil Nadu in districts that did not have one until now.
