Vishal Chauhan has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
He is 1988 batch IAS officer of Sikkim cadre.
His key focus areas would be non communicable disease, chronic kidney disease, nation program on mental health, blindness control, deafness control, oral health, palliative care, rare disease and related institutes like NIMHANS etc.
The veteran IAS officer held several key positions in past including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Healthcare, Human Services and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, and Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

Chauhan has experience of working in various departments of the government including Energy, Finance, and healthcare.
He studied at IIT Roorkee, NITIE Mumbai, and Kings College London.
